Who Am I

Rafael Marquez

1978

Started punching cards before the invention of the monitor — PL/1, Fortran, then RPG III on the newly created IBM AS/400.

1989

Moved to Miami. First U.S. job: dBase for the Mac, rebranded nuBase — a first introduction to event-driven programming through MacPascal.

1996–97

One of the first to tie a database to an HTML page. Then JavaScript arrived, and never let go.

2000s–today

Independent consultant and entrepreneur — architecture, database design, and full-stack development for clients across media, robotics, and telecom.

Still curious after 45+ years — and still barefoot most days.

I'm a Software Architect, CIO, and full-stack developer with over 45 years of experience — proficient in NodeJS, JavaScript, VB.net, MSSQL, and more languages than I can count. My work spans front-end and back-end development, database architecture, API integration, dashboards, and digital marketing.

After Hurricane Andrew, I found my way into document management — scanning, OCR, indexing, and image workflow for an IBM vendor. Since then I've built software through nearly every major platform shift, and I'm still doing it from my garage today, mostly barefoot.
